| We have chosen to stock wines from Bordeaux
Small Chateaux for everyday drinking and for that special occasion.
Many famous Chateaux are known around the globe from the 1855 classification
which brought us the famous Chateau Latour, Lynch Bages etc (5 quality
groups of grand cru's), but as they are famous their prices reflect
this. While we can source the grand cru's for any
patrons wishing to purchase same, our passion is for small family
run vineyards (or Chateaux as they are called in Bordeaux which means
any land owned around the house or Chateaux can be called after it &
put on the wine label.) This enables us to sell wines for everyday consumption at a reasonable price. Many of these wines are organically grown and the grapes hand picked. Tiny holdings can produce excellent wine at a fraction of the price of their famous neighbours. As these are small producers the amount of wine available can be quite small, so stocks at any given time are limited to whatever wine we have in stock, if we are out of stock of a particular wine you order, we will replace it with a similar wine (i.e Style, Quality, and price). Many different blends of wines are available, using the traditional vines of Bordeaux, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot for the reds and Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle for the whites. These blends vary according to what part of Bordeaux the wines come from. For example if the wine comes from Pomerol we know the grape Merlot will be in the majority as this is the tradition of the area ( Pomerol Appellation Controlée ) (controlling body). |
